Bonjour tout le monde!
My name is Yvonne Prest and I am a French Immersion teacher with the Southeast Kootenay School District, in British Columbia, Canada. I am originally from Victoria but have been living in Fernie for the past three years. I came for the mountains, fell in love, and have never looked back!
In June 2011, I graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Prior to university, I received an associate of arts degree in English Literature from Camosun College. My teaching career began in 2011 and since then I’ve taught at all levels, as a substitute teacher, in both English and French Immersion classrooms.
I love working with youth of all ages. I have been privileged, for the past three years, to work abroad as a program leader for Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV). I was responsible for organizing three international, one month-long, summer camps with a focus on peace education and building global friendship for children ages 11 to 17 from all over the world. The skills I learnt in Brazil, Norway and Canada, were life changing to say the least, as I was challenged to meet the needs of such a diverse and large group of students.
When I am not lost in a book or writing poetry, I enjoy traveling, snowboarding, playing guitar and spending time with loved ones.
I look forward to learning about you as well!
My door is always open.
